RuPaul Project

So I have been very lazy posting... But also very busy! My RuPaul project has progressed but there is still an awful lot to do.
Throughout my project I have learnt to vacuum form, weld, angle grind and use a machine that I can't remember the name of ( but is essentially a metal mangle that is used to bend metal). Angle grinding is my favourite since who doesn't love crazy sparks everywhere?!

As well as my costume I am making a silver tree of wires, which is why I have been welding. I have enjoyed this the most due to the lack of measuring needed for my design, which also means that I can just get on with it. Still not finished but it's mostly there.

Here are some photos...

Photo Time

Alongside costume and set work I also like to take photos on my travels. This is something that needs a bit (a lot!!) of practice, so hopefully the difference will show in a year or so. Here seems like a better place than any to start sharing some of them!

Living in London I get to do a lot of cool things. On Sunday (5/7/15) my Sister Katy and I went to Wireless Festival in Finsbury Park. We saw lots of bands and danced in a paper Tuborg mansion. Our favourite was seeing David Guetta. He was all of the fun, and looked so tiny on the huge stage!

I took this photo during his set on my rubbishey phone, as you can probably tell. I wasn't risking taking a nice camera there.

I didn't take any others as I was too busy having FUN!

This next one is cool just because, I work as a silver service waiter and last week I had a shift at Wembley for an ACDC gig. I had a sneaky watch of their opening and it was pretty darn awesome. Also taken on my phone since I was technically working.

Adaptation: RuPaul for Viva Glam

Summer has arrived!

Along with the motivation to begin my adaptation project. After overcoming the initial wave of dread, I have finally started researching and drawing up some concept art pieces.
I wanted an excuse to use lots of glitter, so from this I decided to design a costume for drag superstar RuPaul; reinventing her MAC make-up Viva Glam campaign.

These are just my starting point. I expect them to get much brighter and more fabulous!

42nd Street Photos

Hello!
Here are a few photos from the 42nd Street set. I never thought I would hate floor as much as I did during this project. If someone asks you to make floor, say NO! You will loose your sanity. But hey, that is one mighty fine floor...

:D

The Looking Glass Wars for Kylie - designs

Since posting my costume photos, I thought that I would share some of my design work.
One of these is a collage, the other painted acetate.

Enjoy!

Costume:The Looking Glass Wars for Kylie Minogue

Today I played catch up and FINALLY took some photos of my specialist pathways unit. I designed and made a dress for Kylie Minogue based on the Frank Beddor novel, The Looking Glass Wars. This is possibly my favourite book. I advise anyone who is into fantasy/adventure genre to check it out as it is AWESOME. I also decided on this project due to my Love for Kylie and her beautiful clothes!

Here are a few of the photos I took. Thank you very much to my model  Livi Wilmore. She is also an animator so check her out!

42nd Street

So last night I went to the opening of 42nd Street by Geoids Musical theatre, at the Bridewell Theatre in London.
The set was designed and built by Paul Calvo, Megan Krull, Hollie Taylor, Natalie Whitley, Jade Bove and myself!
We all had a great time working with Geoids as everyone was so lovely. I will post some photos next week so you can see all of our hard work.

Untill then, here is their website where they are still selling tickets

TV Set Design

First realised set. How exciting!

This is for a project for the Television Production course at UCA. They asked us to design and build them a set for their youth panel show, 'What You Sayin?'.
I am very happy with the final design. Much like Harry Potter, it is TOTALLY AWESOME!

So here it is...
